These are the famous Landing Beaches of D-Day in Normandy, France. On June 6 1944, during World War 2, over 23000 allied paratroopers and glider troops jumped from the sky to liberate France and
later western Europe.
As somebody who has always been interested in places where history happened, it was a special and spine-chilling moment to visit these never-ending graveyards. The most surreal thing for me was
the closeness to the serene beach. 10000 perfectly aligned white crosses right next to the beautiful ocean. A scenery that simply screams "WHY!?".
