15 Plitvice Lakes National Park

If something resembles "paradise" then Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia comes pretty close. You will find a breathtaking amount of sixteen interconnected lakes that are arranged in cascades. That means that the water is flowing or falling or dripping from one lake into the other in turquoise colors, with beautiful hanging moss and trees. The lakes are only separated by natural dams of travertine. There are different trails and a boat ride which will take you along the lakes and up to an incredible overlook with towering waterfalls. We hit the park on our road trip through Croatia in 2020 and it has never left my personal "Top 5"-List of nature gems in Europe.
