To me this is one of the most amazing, most fragile and most endangered places in the world: the Amazon Rainforest. We were lucky to be able to explore it for 5
whole days on our trip through Ecuador in 2022. The whole Amazon Basin measures 7,000,000 km2 / 2,700,000 sq mi and has over half of our planet's remaining rainforest
which means about 390 billion individual trees. Sounds like a lot? According to the World Wildlife Fund, more than a quarter of
the Amazon rainforest will be devoid of trees by 2030 if cutting continues at the same speed. If nothing is done to stop it, an estimated 40 percent will be cut down by 2050. I am very thankful
that we had the chance to see it in all its beauty with mangroves, palm trees, monkeys, parrots, spiders and caiman. If you have the chance, go and see it before it is
gone.
